Yup, pretty much that. Or I’m not the most discriminated against group so I shouldn’t say anything. Or I’m not Hindu/Indian enough to understand. It’s definitely…interesting having this debate with white people. The majority of Hindus/Indians I know agree with me on issues like cultural appropriation, but they don’t even care about majority statistics. (And I generally make sure I’m only talking about Indians when I make statements about comfort. I try very hard to not speak on behalf of my whole race, let alone other minorities.) I’ve noticed when I talk to other people of color they generally don’t get all “you’re secretly white” on me; we actually just debate. But I have a very limited sample size, so I’m not drawing any conclusions about society here. Most people of all races are very uncomfortable talking about all of this these days.
