These are all really good points. I also have a white friend from Zimbabwe who is unsure how to define herself because she’s from Africa, but isn’t “African American.” Same with my friends from North Africa, as you’re mentioning, even when they’re Black!

It’s so important to realize entire continents like Africa and Asia aren’t monoliths.
