Thank you for these thoughtful comments! For me, Kamala Harris was bad even for a prosecutor. One of my coauthors (Nathan) worked for a capital defender’s office and we as a group definitely lean defense, but there are prosecutors who are trying and prosecutors who aren’t.

I completely agree with you that racism and sexism is not a Democrat thing. And Democrats definitely try harder than Republicans (as in, they try at all). But for me, the Democratic party was supposed to be safe for women of color, so to see the hypocrisy of some Deomcratic leaders stung far more than the discrimination I face from Republicans.
