No, they aren’t. But I agree that men complain about women rejecting them, while women complain about harassment and assault. (I’ve been harassed too, so I’m not saying it’s the same thing.) But I am saying it IS pain, even if it’s small and it does make people really evaluate their place in the world.
I didn’t mention this, but this specific friend is Jewish, has faced anti-Semitic hatred, and has mental disabilities that make him very susceptible to this type of statement. It’s not easy to hear even for white people, even though, yes, it’s far less of a problem. (I say that in the first paragraph.)
