In general, I don’t like how the entire literary world has turned into how good you are at marketing over how good you are as an author. This trend towards marketing/publicity skills over creative skills is seen across fields like music, film, and art.
Angela makes a really good point that if individual people don’t like you, they can post tons of negative comments on your book that are unfair.
Also great point that if big companies promote the same books, then people with more niche interests aren’t going to have their own communities or tailored recommendations.
Not everyone likes the same books, whether it’s Charles Dickens or Harry Potter. That’s a good thing!
