I find this article and the responses interesting. Based on my anecdotal experience, I actually don't see music taste influencing relationships. To me, movies are probably the most important because TV's are loud and you get into fights if you don't want to watch the same thing at the same time. Music is usually enjoyed on headphones and books are read alone.

My husband and I don't share music tastes--he doesn't like listening to music and I listen to a bit of everything. But we do have pretty much identical book and movie habits with a few twists here and there.

My sister and I are copy-paste on music--we literally SHARE a playlist and a YouTube account, pretty similar on movies, and night and day on books.

They are my two closest friends and I spend like 90% of my time with them. I'm not seeing a correlation here. (And I would say to discount my experiences because they're anecdotal, but like the other responses have pointed out, this "research" isn't that good anyway.) I do love OKCupid's research though!
