Ah, got it. You might be right…perhaps it’s the difference between the civil rights movement and a civil rights movement? Because the way most people define it, the gay rights movement was also a civil rights movement.
Second, I think that equal rights under the law isn’t enough to actually achieve true equality, equity, or justice. Even when African Americans have equal legal rights, they are often still treated unfairly by the justice system or hurt by a lot of deep racism that still exists…I’d think that fight is still part of the civil rights movement?
And, yeah. I’m not race/color-blind and I don’t think it’s helpful to talk about race in terms of not seeing it. I just don’t think it’s good to discriminate on the basis of it.
