Actually, a lot more innocent people/people who have not done much wrong have been locked up unfairly + for unfairly long times and harsh sentences. The system is also really, really racist.

I have no faith in the system. That’s why it’s important we treat people as innocent until they’re convicted. Otherwise, you end up with some really racist situations where people assume minorities are guilty when we’re not…we’ve been seeing this come out in the BLM movement for a decade now.

Do you know how many cases there are where a white woman falsely accused a Black man of sexual harassment or assault and he was innocent, but it still ruined his career? Criminal justice law is REALLY important. If you don’t get a warrant fairly, if the police do not follow the law, if you violate people’s rights, then you can’t just get a conviction. This protects all of our rights.
